Whenua - Laboratoire artisanal de cosmétique naturels

Chez Whenua, nous sommes extrèmement fiers de réaliser nos produits de A à Z, c'est à dire de leur formulation à leur commercialisation ! Ceci ne pourrait pas être possible sans notre laboratoire.

En effet, réaliser des cosmétiques naturels et artisanaux ne signifie pas de les réaliser dans la cuisine ! Pour nous, être artisan, c'est avant tout être professionel ! Ainsi la première étape de notre projet a été la conception de ce laboratoire puis sa déclaration auprès des autorités de santé. C'est sur que ça prend plus de temps, mais c'est la loi. Nous sommes toujours surpris de rencontrer sur les marchés des personnes qui n'ont pas le respect de leurs clients et se permettent de commercialiser des produits qui n'ont pas été conçus et fabriqués conformément aux Bonnes Pratiques de Fabrication !

Afin d'être dès le début en cohérence avec nos convictions, nous avons ainsi décidé de réhabiliter un ancien bâtiment de notre corps de ferme en laboratoire. Ce projet a ainsi permi de sauver un bâtiment du 19ème siècle. Notre laboratoire est donc installé dans le grenier à foin de notre écurie. C'est un batiment typique de notre paysage, avec le rez de chaussé en briques et l'étage en colombages recouvert de bardage bois.

Lorsque nous avons acheté cette maison en 2005, nous avions déjà eu beaucoup de travaux à effectuer, nous connaîssions donc la charge de travail qui nous attendait ! Pour vous en donner une idée, voici tout de même quelques photos de l'état du bâtiment avant les travaux.

Nous avons démarré les travaux de notre laboratoire en mars 2019 ! Nous avons réalisé la quasi totalité de l'aménagement intérieur seuls où avec des amis ! Pour ce qui est de la couverture et du bardage, nous sommes passé par un artisan à quelques kilomètre de chez nous... Lorsque l'on lance un projet en mettant l'accent sur le local et l'artisanal, nous aurions perdu toute crédibilité en cherchant une grosse société à plusieurs centaines de kilomètre de chez nous.

Pour l'aménagement intérieur, nous avons du faire face à différentes problématiques : limitation des charges sur le sol, isolation performante, respect de la réglementation BPF pour les locaux... C'est certain que la construction d'un bâtiment neuf aurait été plus rapide et moins coûteuse, en revanche nous sommes pour la préservation du patrimoine rural, et la réhabilitation de ce bâtiment fut pour nous un projet stimulant !

L'expérience de Cédric comme consultant dans l'industrie pharmaceutique a été ici très utile ! En effet, pour avoir travaillé à améliorer la productivité dans des laboratoires de contrôle ou des usines, le premier point sur lequel il a toujours été primordial de travailler est l'organisation des flux !

Nous avons donc directement raisonné en terme de flux dans le labo, le flux matière, le flux équipement, et comment éviter que tout ceci s'enmêle. Nous avons donc diviser le laboratoire en différentes zones : stockage, production, laverie, bureaux. Nous les avons agencées de manière à ce que tous les flux soient dans la même direction. Il en résulte un laboratoire efficace, clair et parfaitement adapté à notre production, aussi bien actuelle que future. En effet, nous avons d'ores et déjà réfléchis aux différentes évolutions nécessaires : savonnerie, atelier pour les gels douches et shampoings liquide...

C'est donc le principe de la micro usine, optimisé sur la base de nos années d'expérience conjointe dans l'industrie qui a été ainsi mis en place !
